Custom Printed RV Awnings

How to replace RV awning fabric

Replace RV awning fabric by first identifying the hardware, measuring between arm centers and confirming the replacement specification. Have installation follow the exact model’s manufacturer procedure or use a qualified technician; new fabric may let you retain serviceable equipment, but it cannot repair damaged hardware.

Start with safety, not disassembly

This is a planning guide, not a universal repair procedure. Awning assemblies can contain stored spring tension, heavy moving parts and powered mechanisms. Removing the wrong component can cause injury or damage.

Get the manufacturer’s instructions for your exact model before starting. Do not release spring tension, remove end caps, disconnect arms or improvise a locking method from a generic article. If the procedure is unclear or requires a qualified technician, arrange professional installation.

1. Identify and inspect the existing system

Record the awning model and serial information, including roller and hardware labels where available. Take photos of the arms, roller, attachment points and deployed fabric. Tell the team about any previous hardware changes.

Ask a service professional to assess damaged arms, a bent roller, mounting problems or a faulty motor. New fabric does not repair those faults. Start with the relevant Dometic, Carefree or Solera model checks.

2. Measure and confirm the fabric specification

For our order sizing, measure from the center of one awning arm to the center of the other and round up to the nearest foot. Printed fabric is about 9 inches narrower than the nominal size to allow room for hardware.

This measurement does not establish universal compatibility. Have the model, attachment requirements and replacement specification reviewed before approval. Do not apply our nominal sizing rule to another supplier’s ordering form without checking its instructions.

3. Order the fabric and review the proof

Our product is custom-printed replacement fabric, not a complete awning kit. Arms, roller, motor, mounting hardware and installation are not included. Submit your artwork or select the optional $100 design service; the digital proof is free.

Check size, spelling, logo placement and quantity before approving. Your proof confirms the design you authorize for printing—it is not a substitute for confirming hardware fit. See pricing and shipping & returns before committing.

4. Arrange model-specific installation

Once the replacement arrives, compare it with the approved order before installation. Have your installer follow the correct manufacturer procedure for supporting the assembly, controlling power and any stored tension, and fitting the fabric. Required tools, staffing and locking methods vary by model.

Do not force fabric into an incompatible attachment or modify hardware to make an uncertain fit work. Stop and contact the team if the delivered fabric appears incorrect or damaged.

5. Check operation and maintain the fabric

Have the installer complete the manufacturer’s operation and alignment checks. If the fabric binds, rolls unevenly or the arms do not move normally, stop using it until the problem is assessed.

Follow the fabric and hardware care instructions. Keep the awning free of debris and let wet fabric dry when conditions safely allow; do not treat new fabric as permission to use an awning in unsafe weather.

Use the manufacturer’s service documentation

Examples include Carefree’s patio awning service manual and Dometic’s powered roller assembly instructions. These are model-specific references, not instructions for every awning. Select the documentation that matches your actual system.
